Google announces cleaning of applications in the Play Store by the end of August

July 26th. 2024

Applications

Google has decided to take drastic measures to improve the quality of the applications available in its Play Store. Starting August 31, the technology company will carry out a thorough cleanup to eliminate those applications that do not meet its minimum requirements for functionality, content and user experience.

New policies for a better user experience

By updating its minimum functionality policy, Google seeks to ensure that users have access to stable, interactive and attractive applications. This measure will mainly affect two types of applications: those that have limited functionality and content, and those that malfunction.
Apps that do not provide significant value to the user, such as those with little content or no clear function, will be removed. This includes apps that only present text, PDF files, or a single wallpaper. Google has made it clear that these applications do not meet the quality standard that the company wants to maintain in its store.

Removal of applications with technical glitches

Additionally, Google will focus on apps that exhibit anomalous behavior, such as freezing, force quitting, or not responding correctly. These apps, which often frustrate users for not working properly, will also be removed from the Play Store. Examples of these types of applications include those that do not install correctly or do not load once installed.

With these measures, Google aims to significantly improve the experience of Android users, ensuring that all applications available in the Play Store offer a high-quality experience. App developers will have until the end of August to adjust their products to meet the new requirements established by the company.
